The problem is that the two aren't mutually exclusive. No matter how you may deny it, your Christ wouldn't exist without the bible. Christians shape their perception of Jesus based on what's written in the bible, but then claim they are not following the bible, but rather Christ.

Image of God - the Bible or Christ?
by tec inpeace to you!
i wanted to get some thoughts out there on this subject, because there are so many people who look to the bible as the image of god.
to the point that they do not look to christ at all, but rather they look to the law or to moses or to the ot as the image of god... over... christ.

good old apocalyptic science fiction
by Hortensia inhave you ever read "no blade of grass," "on the beach" or "the satan-bug?
" i have a feeling it wouldn't hurt to reread those old novels.. folks around here argue about gmo foods, for instance, without realizing that one of the main problems with gmo is lack of diversity, dangerous if a disease comes along that kills the main crops of the world.. and people seem to have forgotten that humans could indeed destroy themselves completely, if someone starts a nuclear war.
they always seem to think there could be survivors of an all-out nuclear war.

I've always liked Kurt Vonnegut's work; Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse-Five, especially.

No angelic protection for 20+ Jehovah's Witnesses on way to Convention. All dead.....
by Balaamsass infrom nigerian newspaper via google alert a few minutes ago;.
entire family, 20 others die in fatal accidenttragedy struck weekend in akwa ibom state as a man, his wife and all their children, as well as more than 20 others, all members of the jehovahs witness church, perished in a fatal road accident which occurred, friday, along the utu etim ekpo road in etim ekpo local government area of the state.. forty other members of the church sustained varying degrees of injuries following in the crash which occurred on their way to the jehovahs witness annual convention ground in ikot ekpene local government area of the state.. thisdays gathered that more than 70 members of the church had hired a lorry to convey them from ukanafun local government area to ikot ekpene for the annual district convention which began on friday and billed to end today (sunday) but the journey ended half way with many members of the church dying on the road in the accident.. eyewitnesses alleged that the driver of the lorry conveying the church members to the venue of the convention lost control of the vehicle when he got to utu etim ekpo, the junction opposite the local government secretariat, and hit the stone used to construct the roundabout, thus resulting in the lorry somersaulting, leaving many of its passengers and others wounded.. the corpses and those injured in the accident were said to have been taken to neighbouring hospitals and mortuaries.. one of the eyewitnesses, mr. friday john, said the people who died may have been more than what was seen because a whole family including parents and their children were all trapped in the accident.. we were all here discussing when suddenly the lorry appeared and was looking like the driver had lost control of it.
then the lorry drove straight and hit the stone and somersaulted into the gutter.. many people died, more than 18. in fact, we couldnt count the number because there were many corpses, including husband, wife and children and they were all taken to the mortuary in various hospitals near etim ekpo here, john explained.. in another narration, a secondary school teacher in eka uruk eshiet etim ekpo, mr. ndipmo nkanta, said the lorry boarded by the deceased and the injured passengers was not meant for passengers but goods only.. he blamed the accident on poverty , arguing that if there was a better alternative, such casualties wouldnt have been recorded, especially as they were going to worship god.. the public relations officer of the federal road safety corps, frsc, in the state, mr. godsgift uwen, blamed the incident on over-speeding and overloading by the driver of the lorry.. he said the lorry was not supposed to carry any passenger as it was a meant for goods only but the driver stubbornly used it as a passengers vehicle, which led to the sad incident.. he advised against rush and drunken driving, especially in the yuletide, noting that these are some of the major causes of accidents on the roads.. culled from thisday".

What they did was risky, and perhaps they thought that because they were doing it for the right reasons, they would somehow be protected. I've seen this quite a bit to a lesser degree.
I remember a sister in my old cong that was attacked by a vicious dog out in service, and suffered a severe bite. She assumed that since she was out in the ministry that she would somehow be protetected. It's sad how careless and misguided people can be when they believe they are under God's protection.

Given the fact that you are the one being cut open, I would say yes. Her feelings are irrelevant. If she's truly a professional at her job she will understand.

The UN's motto means the END OF DAYS!! Gloom and DOOM
by Honeybucket ina email has been going around the witness community explaining how prophecies are falling into place concerning the wild beast.
aparantly the un's motto this year is "peace and security" 1 thes 5:3 "whenever it is that they are saying peace and security then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pangs of distress upon a pregnant woman aand they by no means will escape".. according to this scripture the "end" should already be here since peace and security has already been declared by the un; i do wonder if this was done on purpose as a slap in the face to wtbs, due to them gb declaring the un a wicked and destable thing.. i would love to hear your thoughts on this matter.. honeybucket.

Jws constantly cling to any remotely significant world event as being a sign that the end is near. This serves as reaffirmation that they haven't wasted their lives waiting for it to come.

i really appreciate the historical information on the jw's this board allowed me to find out about.
it really put things into perspective.

but this board seems to be full of more people trying to stay in the org rather than leave it
That's one perspective. Another is that the dynamic of the forum is evolving to include a more diverse group of people, in various stages of their journey.

I hope the new ones contain more scenes of Chewbacca and R2-D2 talking amongst themselves. This is a plot device that was sorely lacking in the originals, and would really have enhanced the story.

Why not hold it on a Saturday to show kindness for those who have to work. They could have easily have found a place that would have held up to two thousand or more especially in Portland.
How selfish of them to not think of others in their time of grief.

i got out as a kid 20 years ago and since i am a newbie here it feels like we are shown a little less respect.
